Boosted Rev Review

Boosted Rev Review

The Boosted Rev electric scooter is brought to you by the engineers behind the Boosted Board - one of the world’s most popular electric skateboards. With their background in creating high-quality electric vehicles it’s no wonder that the Boosted Rev has gotten a lot of attention since its launch. One feature of the Boosted Rev that has created a lot of hype is its power and ability to go uphill. With many electric scooters unable to tackle uphill climbs due to weak motors, this feature is particularly intriguing.

But how does the Boosted Rev measure up to the high expectations?

Uphill Power

With 1,500W of power across two motors, there is no doubt that the Boosted Rev definitely packs a lot of power. This translates into the ability for the Boosted Rev being able to travel up inclines of up to 14 degrees. This is very impressive, and is a feature that is only rivalled by the Raine One electric scooter. So if your commute or weekend riding requires some decent uphill power, the Boosted Rev is a good option.

Speed and Range

Powered by dual motors, the Boosted Rev also has some decent speed. Although with a top speed of 39km/h (24 mph), the Boosted Rev may not be the fastest electric scooter on the market, it definitely beats a lot of the competition and will be able to get you where you need to go in no time.

The Boosted Rev also has a maximum range of 35km (21 miles), which again, is not the best performing electric scooter on the market, but it's still a reliable choice if you plan on using your scooter for shorter trips or commutes.

Tyres

The Boosted Rev includes pneumatic (air) 9-inch tyres that will help you tackle bumps and potholes on your journey without causing damage to your electric scooter. Pneumatic tyres are also generally more comfortable than airless/solid tyres, but be mindful that they are more susceptible to punctures.

Weight

Although the dual motors provide a lot of power for the Boosted Rev, they also add a lot of weight to this electric scooter. Weighing approximately 20.9kg (46 lbs), the Boosted Rev is one of the heaviest electric scooters on the market. So if you need to carry your scooter upstairs or onto public transport, this may not be the best electric scooter for you.

Ride Comfort

Despite including pneumatic tyres to help support a more comfortable ride, the Boosted Rev does lack a sophisticated suspension system. With a lack of suspension, the Boosted Rev is unable to ensure a comfortable riding experience, especially if you’re required to ride over uneven surfaces or have a long commute.

Price

The price of the Boosted Rev is $1499 USD, making it one of the most expensive electric scooters on the market, especially for its size. Although the Boosted Rev includes some very impressive features, depending on your electric scooter needs, you might find that there are other models on the market that are better all-round electric scooters at a much lower price point.

There’s no denying that the Boosted Rev is one of the most powerful electric scooters out there and will definitely help you tackle the challenges of everyday commuting. Its uphill power can only be rivalled by the Raine One, and its speed and range are well above average, making the Boosted Rev a very reliable electric scooter.

However, the lack of suspension and the heavy weight of the Boosted Rev, may be major drawbacks, especially if you have a long and bumpy commute, or are required to carry your electric scooter onto public transport or up stairs. And with a high price point, you may find that there are cheaper electric scooters on the market that better cater to all of your electric scooter needs.
